We need to get some paint grade, primed, pre-hung interior doors. I had talked to somebody at HD/Lowes who told me that 2 panel vs. 6 panel were the same price. Then, I talked to someone else who told me that they were dramatically different in price. Anyone have any experience on this?

At my building supply they are the same price. The 6 panel wood grain used to be cheaper but not any longer. Here they are. They come in about 8 styles. Click on the "door designs" link - left side. I don't shop for doors and the like at home centers so don't know about them.
depends on the manufacturer and the marketing/supply arrangements. It can be less expensive to make them, but since they are less common, some supply chains give the two panel more markup along the way.

I put two panel doors in one of my rental cause they were in stock and I was sick of painting 6 panels. Its true that if their in stock, the paint grade, non prehung were all of about $30/ unit.
If you're talking about the heavier prehung special order ones then grab your check book.
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
I get them for around the same price.
At my lumberyard, you can get them for about the same price. I've used MDF, and they paint up very nicely. Also, you can get them in either hollow core or solid core.
