Wondering what a W16x77 might run for a run of aboput 30 feet? Do I new to take out a second mortgage for this beast?

call a steel fabricating company and get a quote , cut, drilled and delivered.
also make plans for handling it ..since it will weigh 2500 #.
*kevin , I just installed two 61/2"X121/2"x25'. They cost 375.00 a piece and weighed 857 pounds a peice. Better line up all you friends or rent a crane.
*In comparison, I find steel cheaper than some engineered lumber beams. Handling them does suck, and it's tougher to trim them if they're ordered a 1/4" longer by mistake (from experience).
*Steels more expensive in my neck of the woods. We recently installed a 9x39 about 25 feet long. It was around 800 bucks delivered. Two men lifted it about eight feet into a pocket with no heavy equipment.I thought it was a one man job myself.
*Steel shapes run about 45 cents per pound. Your beam at 77 pounds per foot x 30 feet = 2310 pounds. At 45 cents per pound this is $1040. Delivery extra. That's a huge beam. You'd be suprized how much smaller a beam you could typically use if you cut the span by using a few posts. Don't be afraid to call an engineer. You might save more than his fee by getting exactly what's required.
