How should a power cable be extended properly?
In the case of a hardwired window shade requiring 120 volt power, an extension cable is required. What do you think about stripping it and grafting it to another power cord? The connection could be fully enclosed with a crimp, could it not?

Not sure completely what you mean by extension cable/power cord. If you are meaning NM electric cable (12-2, 14-2, etc), then NEC wiring methods must be followed. Crimped connections are not allowed. All 120/240V NM electric cable connections must be made inside of an always-accessible electric box of the correct size for the wires and equipment that it will contain. A flexible cord that is plugged into an outlet can be replaced with the correct length, or extended with another extension cord. Extension cords are not as safe as moving the receptacle box to the needed location.
