I was hoping someone would help me out. I am adding on to a current deck. I decided to run my deck out adjacent to my above ground pool. My current deck is 18×20. I am adding on a additional 10 feet in length to make it to the pool and still running 20′ wide. The original deck I am sure they used or ordered 5/4″ x 20′ special order since there is no butt joints. I priced out the 20′ and the cost per board was crazy. I want to stagger the new boards to save but trying to think what would be the most cost effective. Should I buy a mixture of 16,12,10 and 8’ers? What distance should I stagger one board from the next so it looks fluent? Any ideas would be appreciated.
