Hi all,
Recently installed a tongue and groove wall in a customer’s basement. He would like base moulding installed on the new wall and two existing walls one of which is painted skim coated concrete block. Any thoughts on how to attach the moulding to the block wall (about 16′)? I’m thinking liquid nails but how does one hold the moulding tight to the wall until the adhesive cures? Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Don

If you are using glue push up against the molding with bricks blocks cans of tomato juice etc.
buckets of heavy stuff and or springboards to opposite side of room

DJH,
In addition to heavy objects and springboards, I sometimes use tapcons. After the glue dries I pull the screws and fill the holes, prime, paint, stain etc.

10 minute epoxy, not Liquid Nails. I did this - works well. And NO gaps!Brooks
I use plastic anchors and trim screws where I have to attach trim to brick walls. It's removable, but more work than using a fast setting glue. Some of the glues are similar to contact cement. You smush the pieces together, then pull them back apart. Wait a few seconds then stick them back together.
I used drywall mud. It sticks good and prys off easily. It's no good in wet areas.
Thanks all. Customer solved the problem, doesn't want trim on the concrete walls. Whew!!
