How to cut a 61/2″ vent hole thru Hardie Plank
I am trying to find the most efficient way. The hole doesn’t have to be perfect? Would a jig saw work? I actually have Allura but I think its the same material.
I just bought the wll thimble and it looks like I will need a 6 1/2 hole.

You can smack it with a hammer if you want. (practice on a scrap length if you like)
but this might make a nicer hole.

If you use a blade meant for wood or metal, it will just wear down the teeth pretty fast.
If you are just making one hole you should be able to cut it with a jigsaw pretty easy. Yes, it will be hard on the teeth, so don't use a real expensive blade. I'd go with the wood blade over metal for the more aggressive teeth. My house is sheathed in hardieboard and I have cut it with sawzall (carbide demo blade) and circular saw with both the special blade and regular framing blades.
