Wondering if anyone has any tips of samples to show how to draw a roof addition in construction drawings. I have a set of plans with the city for a small garage addition that would add a front gable to our old home. Their only feedback is that it isn’t clear and that I need an engineer. 

I was hoping to use the California valley like I’ve seen on here from Larry Haun, for simplicity sake, but this may not meet code? I have asked them if they want me to change it to valley rafters, but they seem to not want anything to do with this simple gable addition.
