I have an Oak stile with a 3 inch split at the end of the board. The split is on the face side and does not go all the way through. I’m looking for suggestions on the best way to fix it. I’ve seen info on low viscosity CA glues which are supposed to wick into cracks and was thinking of trying that. I’ve also got a 23 ga pinner and was going to just clamp it tight and pin it.

That'll work. You can also coax glue into the crack by blowing it with a drinking straw.
You can also run a screw thru the side of the stile that will not be noticed even by you who knows it's there. Drill a clearance hole in the side of split stile where the screw enters so that the screw draws the split closed.
How to fix split in Oak Stile
What type of glue would you use for the drinking straw method?
Type of glue?
I have and would use titebond III. It's worked with just clamping till well set. The hidden finish screw would be for something that was very hard to draw tite with the clamp. Predrill properly so you don't run the risk of splitting it another way.
I've never tried the straw method. I have used a syringe, but usually just force in from the glue bottle and continually try to force in by wiping cross grain with my finger.
I never had any luck with the syringe--Titebond was just too thick to flow thru the needle. Or maybe you don't attach the needle?
Nope, no needle.
If you could find a larger needle, that would be the ticket.
As it is, I used maybe an 1/8" hole syringe made for flooding the cats wound out.
Never throw anything away.
The straw is used just to blow air that helps force any kind of glue into the crack--I should have been clearer.
I have also used the air gun with a compressor to do this, but you get better control with the straw.
No problem, I figured that's what the straw would be used for.
Thank's for the tip. I'm going to give it a try.
What are your thoughts on thinning yellow glue with water to make it flow a little easier?
Thinned glue will bond if it's not too thin. I wouldn't thin by more that about 25%.
Thank You.
I'm having trouble locating the thin CA glue that is supposed to wick. I can get it On-Line but would prefer to be able to walk in and buy it so I won't have to wait for delivery. So, if I can thin the yellow stuff I can get going on the gluing. My wife keeps asking if it's done yet. I'm thinking of changing my name to Michelangelo.
