Hi! I’m a long time reader of Fine Homebuilding and have used it in the maintainance and repairs around my house. I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have a story and half house with the second floor finished as one room with the typical slanted ceiling. I want to insulate the area above the second floor ceiling. I have not found much information about the ways to do this for my situation. How do I get the most R-value in the 2×6 space above the ceiling and still maintain any necessary venting?
Thanks for the help.

Hiya Bob, I had good success with my 1 1/2 storey by putting in a cold roof and using foam board insulation.
