W.T.F.? I write an innocuous message about painting FRP, and the site’s software says my message has triggered the spam filter and won’t be accepted. What gives? View Image

How to get around the spam filter? Let me try.
<p>
In rebuilding my house's front stairway (our house has its main entryway on the 2F), I decided to enlarge the 2Fporch as a kind of deck extension. The point of transition between the old porch and the new deck/porch is the problem. I was afraid that one spot in particular would eventually lead to water ingress, I had a p l a s t i c s m a n c o m e o u t and enclose the border u n d e r a c o a t i n g o f F R P. maybe you can edit out the "stuff" so it's easier to read.
Have you contacted the manufacturer?
Cal, I originally got the "spam rejection" when I entered the text normally; I assumed that some word had triggered the filter, so I put in spaces between the letters, and the message was accepted. Go figure. Basically, I want to paint the white strip of FRP in the photo, and am wondering what would be best.

I have no idea if this will work, but it has on:

The trick is to get the best bond to the surface with the primer.
What is "this"??

If it's one thing you can say about this forum..........
is:
Beats the heck outta me.
I assume that polyester resin was used. (Cheaper and easier to work with than epoxy.) IIRC, either epoxy or polyester will adhere to polyester. Polyester will not adhere to epoxy.
Of course, it should be scuffed up first.
Check out boat paints.
Cal, Dan:
Thanks for the comments; I've done a bit more googling and I'm going to look for some epoxy or two-part poly paints; the one concern I have is durability; this is going to be stepped on, so I assume I'll be having to do repainting, the only question is how often. The single-component urethane paint I used on the house trim is holding up well, but it doesn't get bothered too much. I don't want a paint that's so brittle it gets chipped off at every glancing blow--assuming such a durable paint is available.

I'm going to dwell on the primer once again. The top coat will peal or chip easily if the bond is not real good to the FRP.
Best of luck.
I took a look at the Ximbonder page your linked to, and I'll definitely keep the primer in mind, but I doubt that specific product is available here in Japan.
