How to properly hinge gate to allow opening beyond 90 degrees

Hello Everyone,
Could i get some suggestions on how best to mortice and hinge a gate to an existing oak railing in a bi level home. The gate is built and is to be used to prevent spilling triplets down the stairs. Is there some type of spring loaded hinge that will allow the gate to be fully opened to better allow traffic to flow in the hallway?
Thanks,
Geoman

I've used this stuff:

...and it's good.
Yeah, those Tru-Close units look like the cat's PJs:

You want it to open beyond 90, how bout 180?
A normal butt hinge, which you can find spring loaded, will open completlely (180) depending on the positioning-surface mounted to both the post and gate or as you'd mortise it for the usual door.
no?.
