A neighbor wants to refinish her wooden deck that probably hasn’t seen paint in 10 or 20 years. Boards are cracked (surface wear) and nails are loose. I suggested she flip the boards over to see if in better shape. Her feeling is that a sealer needs to be applied before paint. Is this really necessary or will paint do?
