Guys-
I need to walk across a concrete tile roof. The tiles are standard red “S”-shape units that overlap/interlock with each other across each horizontal rows. Each of these horizontal rows as you move up the roof then overlaps the row below it in typical fashion.
What is the best way to walk on these without breaking them? Should I stand on the bottom (valley?) of the “S” or the top of it? Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

I don't walk on roof tiles. At 200 lbs, I can't. Last time we needed this done, we went to my 130 lb. BIL for the job. Get some matching spares, you'll probably need them. Practice on the spares on the ground. Wear soft shoes, knee pads, and gloves, and crawl, don't walk. Distribute your weight as much as possible. Do the job you came for, then on the way back out, replace the tiles you broke.
Another approach, depending on access and cost, might be to rent a JLG lift and avoid touching the tiles at all.

Walk on top of the hump on the bottom of the tiles.
All depends on the way you walk too.
Act like you're tryin to sneak in LOL
Funny story I was flashing a BIG skylight on a tile job...
guy comes to fix the glazing on the unit...crawls across the tile
like its a mine field and then he leaps on this skylight
scared the heck outta me. He stands on the skylight bouncing on it.
took me a few days to get the nerve to stand on it but had to try

Thanks Blacky. I did as you said (walked on the top of the hump at the bottom of the valley of the tile) and it worked great. Went across the roof a dozen times without a single broken tile.
Thanks again! Cheers,
Mark
