How to water proof drywall outside of shower?
The wall outside our shower keeps getting water damage. I tried replacing the strip that is affected with green board but it is deteriorating again- I think the drywall compound I applied over the green board is what is affected. I am pretty sure this is surface water spattering on the wall rather than in internal leak.
Is there an alternative finishing compound that would be more water resistant?
thanks!

Yes, I've had the same problem in my old house. spackling and corner bead that can't stand the water at the corner of the tub.
I finally scraped out the joint compound and treated the area with abatron epoxy, then used their woodepox as joint compound. Sanded and painted and haven't seen a blister since.
Down low or up high?
Do you have a curtain or a glass shower enclosure?
I should have included a photo, it is glass and the damage is low- on the side the door opens. I'm going to try the epoxy idea but it's kind of surprising there isn't something designed just for this..
From a campground in Kentucky…..
The back of the track should have had a couple beads of Lexel caulk run continuous top to bottom along with filling the screw holes for the track.
A final bead to seal the track on the inside of the enclosure.
Bed the bottom of the track as well as the top of pan to wall.
Edit. Remove track and repair wall.
The photo likely suggests it is the water seepage that is coming in from the corner metal track and water slowly migrates upward into the sheetrock.
