So in my grand scheme of my property I have always planned on a shop.
Problem is that I don’t have any resemblance of level ground, so I had the idea of cutting into my hillside, putting in a huge concrete wall then the front side in split face CMU so it wouldn’t look like a shop.
Spanning in-between the two wall with some sort of bar joist, laying down pandeck & pour concrete on top of that so when I walk out of my basement I would walk onto the roof of the shop.
Sounds friigin pricey.
On my job the office trailers are stacked double high sitting on a heavy duty I beam set up.
So they had to come out & I offered to buy all the steel from the general contractor.
they accepted—- so what should have I paid for —–
22 I beams 12×6.5x 15′
6 I beams 12×6.5 x 18′
28 I beams 12×4.5 x 19.5′
44 3″ box tubes 15′ long either 1/4″ or 3/8″ thick.
The general was going to scrap it at 150 bucks a ton & they thought they had 4 tons so I got it for 600 bucks—- did I do ok 😉

guess so....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I would have to say so... now you can make a hell of a sturdy shop any which way you want on that land. Pile drive a couple corners, join up some spans, pour some concrete floors. It is a start!

I'll buy 4 of those 3" box tubes from you, if I can get a reasonable price.

Sure thing, I've sold the whole first section already, but I'm sure I will have plenty of tube steel left.
Well, email, already.=0)
