Hello all,
building a 2400 sq ft house ( plus 1200 sq ft basement ) on my property here in Western MA.
framed with 2/6 stud walls we plan on using spray foam insulation (so far anyway)
trying to sort out best source of heat / AC.
Mini splits are one option, propane or oil fired conventional furnace with AC tied into ductwork is another I guess. Wife doesn’t like the mini split “head” poking out into the room(s) , I agree mostly.
wood stove in basement will provide heat also.
Any observations / ideas / comments regarding HVAC / Insulation are very welcome!

All of the major suppliers of mini split systems have flush mount or hidden air handling units.
Examples from Mitsubishi. Check you preferred suppliers web site for other options.

A conventional AC system will be less expensive, require less maintenance, cool your entire house better and last longer. I love mini-splits and I've put whole house mini-split systems in but only because there was no other option.
Consider a heat pump with back up gas furnace. You can get some very efficient systems. This all depends on your electricity pricing.
