HVAC system for just one room?
I’m doing a renovation. There’s a first floor wall that is removed in the process. This wall carries the ductwork to the room above, so once it’s removed, I need to find another way to heat and cool that room. That room is 15 X 25. I’m wondering if there’s a (small) system that is designed to heat and cool just one room. I’m not interested in a window unit or anything that resembles one. I have space in the attic above, but I’m very sensitive to noise and vibration. Any thoughts?

Look into a split system. Many newer hotels/ motels have them. The condensor is located outside and is connected to an air-handler, mounted on any interior wall, by supply and return refigerent lines. Not a DYI project but super quiet and comes with a remote control. Mitsubishi makes the units we use but other co.s carry similar units
Mitsu units are widely used in motels in the Carribbean Islands. Quiet compared to the PTAC motel type units.
Chuck,
My thoughts would be to try to reconnect to the existing system if at all possible.
Any possibility of rerouting the ductwork up another wall? How big were the duct(s) that were removed? A standard wall stack (a 14 x 3.25 duct made to fit in between 2x4, 16" o.c. studs) can handle about 100-120 cfm, two would easily give you 200 cfm in the space, enough to condition it in most cases. As far as heat goes, you could heat it with electricity, 4 - 5 kW would do it. Many versions of this available as well. Electric unit heaters, electric baseboards, etc.
Most small units, and there is a great variety to pick from (not including window shakers), are not available in sizes smaller that 1 or 1.5 ton, either of which would be too big for this space.
