Neither I would say. In the south our vents are always in the ceiling because we cool most of the time. In my limited experience up north they seem to be in the floor. They are both located for efficiency, not looks.
true. heat rises so wall vents disperse along the floor, but the heat is dissapated faster that way. my ceilings are 7', nothing fancy, but it seems like the center of the room would be last to get the heat although i won't be able to test until really cold days for sure.
