HVLP – conversion gun – which one?
@@@
After painting two drive and two ped gates the way Da Vinci would, I need to entice the boss into an HVLP conversion gun.
Which do you like, which do you hate?

Binks has some that will use lower CFM compressors.
Accuspray has some good HVLP stuff with self contained units including a small compressor for using a pressure pot. I have one. I still have a hard time getting used to the huge air hose. What an armshoulder/ killer.
I still prefer airless or a conventional pressure pot with a HVLP gun.

Get a turbine, the conversion guns are compressor killers, need water separaters, and are less portable.
A turbine warms the flow of air, chases moisture out, makes WB finish flow better, can be quieter, and extremly portable.
Yeah, they cost more, but worth it.

I did not see any mention of oil/water filters, but looking at what comes out of my compressor, I wonder if I need one.The ToolBear

To answer your question, I have the Wagner gun sold at gleempaint.com. The link to it is here:

I love it. I use it with my Makita MAK700 compressor and although the compressor runs near constantly, it seems to do OK for the occasional use that I need.
I recently bought the #4 projector set to throw a little thicker paint and it was a good purchase for me.
All in all, I ended up with a spray rig that paints my trim faster and better than I could do with a brush for $200 or so.
Cleanup is quicker than cleaning a brush.

I figured that with a pot, all the bits go into a can of solvent. I like the idea of not having 50-100' of hose filled with enamel. Am I right? The ToolBear
