Hi, Roger......Nice kitchen.......Is that an under the counter small refrigerator?.......You'd better get some nice meals now........
Actually, its our old dishwasher. I ran out of cash to match a new one to the new appliances. It started life as a portable, and I just kind of built it in there myself.
cheers,

I especially like this one:

very tasteful.
Grain matching is pretty hard with Maple isn't it?
Blue doesn't normally go well in a kitchen but this is a really stunning combination. My daughter used a very pale lilac blue over a maple floor and it came out nice too. Certain woods are especially complimentary to certain colours. You or the wife on that choice? I can see that you took some risks here and it came out well.
Now go make a batch of pasta!
Excellence is its own reward!
thanks guys. Now that I'm finished, I'm moving (true!). Got a job in France!
The design of the cabs is from the FHB back about a year ago where the guy put the face frame on last, after the doors are hung. Works pretty well.
cheers,
Roger
PS: The wife picked the colour. I was unsure, but it did turn out well.Close enough for government work
Yeah, grain matching was hard. What made it harder is that I didn't realize how important it was to do at first. Maybe my eyes just get kinder over time, but the differences in wood colour seem to be aging closer and closer together.Close enough for government work
Nice job!! How long did it take? Love working with maple? I built a maple raised panel hope chest for my wife years back, I actually engraved my marriage proposal on the inside bottom. It worked
Good job on the wedding proposal! I was already married, but I could have earned my wife's affection by engraving "I'm really going to finish this one day" on the back of a cabinet.
Yeah, maple is an amazing wood, but piffin sure was right about the grain matching. I tried to use the same board for stacks of drawer fronts, which helped a lot. Took too long! but I was learning as I went, and still had the day job and two small kids to play with. Got some nice new tools out of it too, and learned that a card scraper is faster, quieter, and better than a RO sander up to about 180 grit.
Can you believe right after I finished it I got a job in France and had to rent it out and move! I was working on it right up until a week before my flight. Now I have the crummiest little Euro kitchen and my renters are living it up.
BTW, if you move to France, it turns out that kitchen cabinets (both base and wall)are considered furniture. You are expected to bring your own and take them with you when you leave. Kitchen is an empty room with a sink on one wall. Spooky!

Roger,
Nice Job. What are the counter tops made off?
Terry
Just plain ol' formica counters, but it looks kinda like the granite we wanted ;) Did the whole kitchen using one 5'x12' sheet, and used oak scraps stained cherry for the edging--total cost about $275 cdn. Was running pretty low on cash by that point!
