And I’ll tell you why.
Several stain and poly manufacturers say to use pads or the foam brushes. well I’m going back to pads, the foam always seems to leave little black blivits in my finishes (I’ve used them three times so far) and they’re a pain to get out.
I never, repeat never, had that problem with the pad applicators or a brush (well occasionaly I’d have a cheap brush leave a bristle behind but they’re easy enough to pick out).
Now I’ve put my 2¢ in and can go to bed happy.

Steve-
Yeah, foam s u c k s , useless as far as I'm concerned. Love my Purdy brushes. The cheap ass China chip brushes are good for throw away (perfect for ext. oil staining like decks).
The pads are underrated and I think they're great for certain things. One is application of Ralph Lauren metalics. Another, which totally rocks, is using the pads to put on clear finishes- esp. acrylic.

For staining......I only use rags. old t-shirts are the best. I know alot say not to use rags......but I awlays get good results......for some reason...I feel I can control it better. Jeff * Jeff J. Buck/ Buck Construction/ Pittsburgh, PA *
