Does anyone have any actual experience with using I-Joists as studs. I see that Weyerhaeuser’s Truss-Joist says they haven’t done the numbers and you are on your own. Seems like a great way to get a say 9.5″ thick wall for insulation and straight interior walls. I have seen sketches of it being done so it is not my idea. Anyone?

Stud assemblies with an insulated core.
Thanks to both of you. I had watched the youtube video of the stud assemblies with the insulated core which led me to think that I-joists would be almost as thermally efficient and much easier to get and likely less expensive.
There is a link in the greenbuildingadvisor.com article about I-Joist walls to a pamphlet by Trus Joist on using I-joists for roof, wall, and floor framing with details of the connections and apparently structural calculations justifying their use, but the problem is that it is all in German and I don't read German. And it is copyright 2001!
