   If you want a good one - check a machinist tools catalog or store and search for dividers.

   Available in reasonably inexpensive drafting sets from art/office supply outlets.
   Bonus is the tips are replaceable and can be either pencil lead or a point.

   They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.

   Ebay search for "dividers" will find a bunch.

   I've had a pair of those with a pencil taped to it for 25 years, other than occasional pencil changes it works well.

   I have all the tools shown in the other posts (except the one Imerc  posted - waiting for a good excuse)  and use them all.  Just bought the one below .   Nice little tool with some good features.  Well worth the $.  

   Got mine at a Rockler store but couldn't  find it on their site. .  Woodcraft lists them.
