Last weekend I purchased about600-800 solid oak cabinet doors with plain fronts. I was wanting to rip them into strips about 2 or 3 inches wide and use them for flooring. The strips would vary from 1 to 3 feet in length due to the different door sizes. How well will it work to glue the strips to the sub floor with maybe two 15 gauge finish nails per strip and just butt joints between the strips? The doors were pre-finished, would I be better off to strip the doors ahead of time or just sand the finish off with the floor sanded after it is laid?
