I want to build a nice indoor garden in my living room. The idea is to have plenty of verticality with plants going up the wall on shelves. I already made sure to pick a pot that gets plenty of natural light, does anyone have any other tips to help with this project? If you’ve done something like this before, can you share your experience?
I’m particularly interested in what kinds of planter pots would be better for something like this. I don’t have a lot of experience with growing plants indoors. And any tips on how to easily get water to all the plants — even the ones on high shelves — would also be great.

There are “self watering containers” that dispense water over time, so you will not have to water as often. Another alternative might be the polymer gel that you can add to the soil to prevent evaporation. A small portable water tank with a sprayer would also be handy for the upper shelves. Make sure you protect the shelves with something, because your pots will likely spill/leak/overflow at some point. I was an interiorscaping tech for several years and keep a million houseplants :)
Thanks a lot for the tips! The self-watering containers and polymer gel trick are brilliant ideas. A portable water tank and sprayer for the higher shelves is so practical. Also, protecting the shelves is a great call. Your experience with plants is clearly evident. :D
One more thing. I did some digging and found some good options for planter pots on https://switchapot.com.au/. I just don't know if I want to use several small pots for a project like this. They'd look cute for sure, but that would make it harder to irrigate them all one pot at a time, right? Or am I overthinking this?
