Can someone tell me the correct way to install. Our contractor installed iceguard with a new roof but did not take down the existing gutters. The iceguard and the shingles were overhanging the gutters. The iceguard also was not, forgive me for lack of correct words but, glued down. Is it a common practice to not glue down, should it be installed behind the gutters and glued down or can you glue it down on the inside of the gutters. Looking for some peace of mind. We have been having fun with these guys if you know what I mean. Thanks

By glue down do you mean he did not remove the release paper backing? I do not attach it to the gutter. It goes out to the drip edge only.

Have you asked your contractor these questions? What were his answers?
Most ice and water membranes are self-stick. Unless it is a very low-slope roof, it is usually stuck to the drip edge. The drip edge, membrane and shingles should project out far enough that the water drips freely into the gutter. It is often not necessary to remove gutters to replace a roof.
Was tarpaper used under the shingles above the area with the membrane?

I,m going along with what Al said.
You don't usually add any glue to it since it sticks by itself after you pull the paper backing off, and the shingles should hang over your roof a little bit (1") so that it creates a drip edge and keeps the water from running down behind your gutters.
