I just had Icynene sprayed in the celings and walls of my new construction. I would guess that 90% of the bays are full (shaved) while the other 10% are of various depths below the studs (concave?). It was my understanding that all bays would be completely filled to ensure the expected R value.
Should I have the contractor come back and finish the job? Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?
Thanks,
Richard

It varies, some of the bays are only 75% full, some more. The roofline is supposed to be 10.25" - R-38. I'm in SE Mass.
My question essentially is did I get what I wanted and will pay for. Or were corners cut?
If 10% of the bays are 25% short, you got "shorted" 2.5% overall. But you say that not all are that bad, so if only 3% of the bays are 25% short and 7% are 10% short you got "shorted" about 1.5%.
The question is, is it worth making a stink for 1.5%?

Perhaps I should short pay the contractor by 1.5%?
It's really not about the money, I want a good envelope and I'm not sure I have the best that it could be with these 'voids'.
money money money money money
Have you paid the contractor yet?
If not, then when he calls looking for money, tell him you were simply waiting for him to come back and finish the job.
Don't forget your barrier (if required) in the ceilings. Icynene can absorb and hold water.
Icynene Update
I contacted the installer with pictures of the 'voids' and got a favorable response. I'm confident that it will be taken care of...
Thanks for the input!
