ideas for panels for outdoor porch
I am looking to extend the use of a screened porch a bit into the fall by installing plastic on the openings. I am considering getting some acrylic (e.g. plexiglass) panels cut to fit. The two largest openings are 6×4. My idea is to mount them on the cedar 1x frames and take them off when it warms up again. I will probably mount them with a screen type clip. I probably will buy 1/8. I think 1/16 would flex too much. Any other ideas?

I have done just that a few times for [people.
I go to my glass shop with dimensions and they make up plexiglas storm panels with an AL frame about 3/4" wide with a rubber seal and the clips to install.
Screen panels
Hey Wayne......one idea, and something I've done in the past.....it's a bit pricey but looks much nicer than your typical screened porch.
Divide your openings into standard door sizes and install 5/4 material as the framework. Purchase wood screen/storm doors and fix within framework. Add a beafy qtr rd or similar moulding where doors meet frames. Then, when its time to switch seasons, you simply pop the screens out and install storms, or vise versa.

So good to see your voice.
How has it been going with you and the family?
Smitty has pretty much decided to hose a Fest this August-maybe 3rd weekend-opportunity knocks!
See you there.

Things here are ever changing. 2 wks ago my wifes 95 yo mother passed. Not like it was a shock and she did live a good old age, however a somber time yet joyous as she got to interact with her new great grand daughter a couple weeks b/4 she died. Many of our friends gathered to wish her well, a good wake. She would have been proud to see the other lives she touched over the years.
Baseball started great, ended rather usual, but the Cleveland message is all too clear-there's always next year.........................
Work has been good and steady. Of course, there were a couple blips, but those quickly filled. Year of the kitchen I guess if you follow the chinese calendar. On my fourth, odd how things come in groups.
Too bad I have to ask some to wait, the phone keeps ringing. Still myself only and boy-thank god for the new Lightweight board from USG! Makes me feel like a kid again.
And dig it, just tore out a kitchen I did years ago. There were some things I forgot that I did. A real eye opener for a few pipes etc. Love working for these folks, they treat me like family......................yet pay like customers.
happily!
62 now, don't know how Smitty keeps doing it..................unless there's something to be said about having employees. Maybe it adds years to a trade life. This is getting to be hard work man.
So, good year-some changes, a new grand daughter! the passing of a generation............yup, quite a time.
Hope things stay good with you folks and we'll see you in August. I mean it. We'll get Mongo, and Joyce and I will take you two on in a game of shoes!
Hang around, could use the help here. It is passable to manuever, but Mark Coleman has been hired to make it better. He was one of Andy Engles capable replacements. It's alot quieter now in the tavern. All the conservatives must have left.
See you around.
I never visit the Tavern anymore. Thought it was disbanded.
How long Mark back on staff?
You are 62 now?
That young wife must be keeping you looking younger than that, but you are almost a curmudgeon now, ya know
Paul
Mark is working for a company that has been sub contracted into fixing the thing. He's not on staff.
The Tavern is right there where it's always been. And no "special permission" required.
And no conservatives to speak of. And no bull shit arguments to clog what was a pretty nice place
Lotta "ands", I know.
62. I think we went through this b/4. My recollection was that Smitty is the geezer, with more energy than those his junior.
You, were a couple yrs younger than I and had proceeded my in that curmudgeon thing by quite a bit. I'm knows as "odd" by many, but curmudgeon wasn't one that's been mentioned yet.
As far as Joyce, well you should only make that kind of comittment once in life and I was one lucky fellow (that thought the whole thing out for at least 5 yrs). So thanks from her.
U R 1 lucky guy with her!
