Ijoist overhang parallel to joist PLEASE HELP!!

Hi All, I have looked through just about every manufactures installation instructions for I joist. See Picture. They show the 2×4 outrigger lying on the gable end wall in all of them. With a pitched roof, this is not practical or doesn’t make sense to me Would you have to build up the gable end wall somehow?

    Seems pretty straightforward to me. You toe nail the outrigger to the wall plate. I'm having a hard time seeing the problem.

    You're right. You will need to build what in the industry is called a "gable wall". That might just be why you are not finding manufacture's instructions otherwise. I'm sorry you feel that it doesn't make sense.
