One thing that gets me higher up than a stairway is a gyrocopter.
I was out flying as usual and took these shots of Illinois. The farmers are out burning ditches etc.
The last one I decided to go on top and look around at the cotton.

It's nice to see that you were flying around with a full tank of gas.
Looks like a blast.
could he other wise...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Stan-
great pics, again.
I particularly like the ones with your shadow in them.
At least, I hope its your shadow and not another gyro ready to take you on in a dog fight.
Glad to see that it isn't all work for ya Stan. Hope that thing never lets you down unexpectedly.
Shame that you have to resort to such means in order to see the landscape. Here I can just walk up to the top of the hill behind the house and see Big Walker Mountain. That is looking over the top of two (2) counties. I would love to be able to have the ability to carve that seen into a table top.
Keep the pictures coming. I need something to look at when I cant sleep.

I will always be a beginner as I am always learning.
You too?
I hate not being able to get a good night's sleep- I'm gonna be a zombie tomorrow (today)
isn't that the preffered state...

That red thing in your canopy a HUD?
Pierre: The only red thing I can think of are those two red yaw strings outside the windshield. These tell show me I am not flying in a crab position.
If it something else you are talking about....it may be the reflection of an eagle that is on the back of the dash under the windshield.

Stan, you gonna have that whirligig parked at Air Rendezvous where all the peasants can see it?

John: I am planning on flying to that show.
I will know more around that time. I am changing out my radio soon as it went down. That is a controlled airport and I need my radio. I should have it installed in a few weeks.

You wouldn't want to miss a chance to promote your flavor of flying. Especially not that close to home.
I think I'd keep a posterboard with a line on it somewhere, "it isn't a helicopter, its a gyro."

If you make the air show, would you let me know also?It would be nice to see you again, and meet JohnT8.
When I was a kid we had a sand box with quicksand in it. I was an only child... Eventually.
Hmm..interesting. Replied to this one earlier but it never showed up. No cursing or neked women in it either.

I'd find it hard to believe that Stan would miss an airshow only an hour (as his crow flies) from his home (even if he has to... <gasp> DRIVE there).
I'm going to try and make it. I've been trying to convince a friend from IA to come down that weekend (his Dad flew F4's in Vietnam). And got a couple local friends on the line..and if need be, the BIL.
I'd hate to miss a Blue Angels show. I had the opportunity to attend a media demonstration of the Blue Angels back in the early 1990's. Pretty neat. They don't have all the restrictions on the media demonstration that they do during normal air shows.
A nice "wow" factor: You're standing next to a flat-roofed, 1-story building when a BA passes less than 10 feet over the top of the building... directly overhead. Didn't see him coming, didn't even hear him until he had gone by. Just WHAM...there he was and ZIP he was gone. Then ROOOOAAAAAARRRRR. My thought at the time had been, "if that had been an attack run, I'd be a goner." About the only way to improve on that show would be if you were the reporter that gets to go up in the 2-seater. That would be a wild ride!
Blue Angels always put on a good show. That alone is worth the cover charge. But I like aircraft, so doubly a good time for me. To me the roar of a jet engine or whine of a prop is like fireworks to a kid. jt8

You must have hit the "reply by email" thing. I got that post in an email.

That's OK, I don't think I added anything.
