I don't often use a hammer on mine, but they do get thrown to the ground and snapped in half often. I've had a few tough phones, one that fell 60 feet twice, they were tough but the reception sucked for some reason.
My Rugby looks like it's from the same maker. Just as durable and smaller

I've not bashed it but dropped it a lot even threw it a distance to show a friend it was a tough little bugger.
My Casio GZone is pretty tough -- same waterproof claim, 1/2hr.
But the new model lacks the solid loop for a 'biner, so it would be easier to lose.
And I'm surprised that the screen is so dim I can't read it outdoors, and likewise the speakerphone isn't loud enough.
My old LG was excellent on both those counts, but it wasn't sturdy.
But they're getting there, they're getting there.

I have the GZone too. Really like the 'flashlight' feature.
There is a "new" G'Zone that is supposed to be LOUDER. Call Verizon and get the latest firmware update sent to your phone. Also, get a better cell phone holster so you don't drop your phone.Do you use the "push to talk" with your G'Zone? I just got the latest G'Zone, but not the PTT service (phone has the capability) .... no one to talk with on it!

I'm not much of a PTT guy -- never saw the point. And I don't like holsters. A keyring-style 'biner hooked through the top loop has worked better than any other system I've used. Also, I can put it on speakerphone and clip the 'biner to the neck of my shirt for a handy hands-free system and keep working, as long as it's not too noisy on site.Wish they'd left that loop on the new one...AitchKay
You can get a loop or key-ring thru the top of the new G'Zone, and then put a solid carabiner latch on that.
You don't like bluetooth earpiece? Better than speaker phone for quality and privacy IMO.

I've never tried a bluetooth. Figured I'd lose it pretty quick. Maybe when Worktunes comes out with a bluetooth model... Actually, they probably have by now.Good to know about the keyring hole. I thought there was only enough room for a cord leash.AitchKay
I bought this for my G'Zone Boulder......http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=208971292&dcaid=17768You can loop your belt thru it, clip it to your belt or whatever, and it has an attached carabiner. Plus some loop doohickey, maybe for a pencil?Snug fits the G'Zone, so it will not fall out. Neoprene is capable of getting wet.... not sure if it BLOCKS water but the G'Zone can get wet.

You guys don't remember all the traffic cops getting testicle cancer from having the radar gun sitting on their lap all those hours?
Now you want to hang an electronic device a couple inches from yer brain all day?
Whatta doing? Committing suicide?
Go drink yer diet pop.
I just bought a G-zone. You think the speaker is bad on this you shoudl borrow my old motorola. The speaker phone was useless. So far so good with this one.
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
I have the GZ phone as well, just got it last week. Speaker is fine, maybe it's your hearing.
I do agree with you about the screen though.
So far though I really do like the rest of the features.Whatever. I remember the days of owning the Nokia "brick" as they used to call it, almost as big as a brick and the pull out antenna kept breaking. Before that when beepers first hit the scene, I had one that would just emit a sound....didn't even have a display. You had to guess who it was. And before that......I was happy and free.(sniff)
I have the Samsung SGH-a837 Rugby. Certainly tough, but crappy sound quality, can't wait to get rid of it.
My understanding is it has been postponed for arrival in the states till september. Was suppose to be herte in march but high demand in Europe has set them back on importing to us.
The rubber mallet test is nothing but water ,YEAH!
The true tesst is crunching it in the truck door or falling out of your pocket and then stepping on it full force when getting out of truck.
The options I want are a GPS locator, flashlight, speaker phone loud enough to hear over saw, voice activated, backup battery, large print screen with backlight and glare reduction, bluetooth, web enabled with weather radar button, simple 2way radio builtin, lighter, and ...?
