I'd consider driving over if there were enough people going to make it worth the 4 hour trip.

What kind of show is it, Stan ?

    1. Stan_Foster | Jan 20, 2002 04:51pm | #2

*They are advertised in Fine Homebuilding. If you hit the search engine and just type in Indianapolis woodworking show, the Jan 25-27 dates will come upIts a traveling show that hits several major cities, Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Cleveland, LA, etc.It has all the major manufactures set up running their equipment. I always find something new at these. Its a good place to pick up supplies. There are three days of seminars of various topics also. Some free, some you have to buy.I never will forget the one tool that completely changed my ways of doing things, a Kreg pocket screw tool. I bought it over at Indy about ten years ago.I usually hit the Indy and Chicago show. I am 2.5 hours WNW of Indy.Hey, we could make this a short notice Indyfest.

*I live only two hours away from Indy but I will be in Evansville Indiana doing an after hours job on a bank all next weekend.

*Stan,I mentioned it to DW and, of course, she came up with a plan. Looks like Saturday we will make the trek north. I will drop her and my grandson oof at the Childrens museum, and go to the woodworking show.Where exactly is the show being held? Admission cost, parking, etc? Best time and place to meet you, contingent on our arrival time in Indy. I'll come up with that time a little later today or the first part of the week, and let you know.Dave

          3. Stan_Foster | Jan 20, 2002 08:09pm | #7

*Dave: It is at the Indiana State fairgrounds. Northe side of town on 38th street. Show starts at 10 a.m. Saturday,,,$9 to get in I think $5 to park.I will be in line at 9:30 a.m. I will have a black sweatshirt on with my (Stan'S Stair Shop) logo.I am having laser surgery on my eyes Wed, but I should be fine for the show. You may have to find me, ha.

*I go to these shows every 3-4 years and swear I won't go to another one. Some buddies have been talkn it up this year so I may go. I will be the blondish grey haired old fart that doesn't buy anything.

          5. RonTeti | Jan 21, 2002 01:52am | #9

*Stan will you do me a favor. If ya go to the show see if In line industries is there. They sell the "Dubby". They werent at the last show and there real nice people. Im just curious. thanks.

*Stan and L.Siders, I have never been to one of these shows. I keep geting the literature in the mail, but never seem to find the time to go.I'll be the six foot, thin, old man wearing a gray Woods Hole Oceangraphics sweat shirt. I know I have got Stan by seven years, I'm 54, so unless you are older L.,I might be the old fart.Dave

          7. Gunner_1750 | Jan 21, 2002 02:18am | #11

*Dang now I'm glad I can't go. At 38 I would be the "youngin" and probably have to help you guys up the steps, out of the car, and cut up your food for ya! LOL

          8. Stan_Foster | Jan 21, 2002 02:26am | #12

*Gunner: I aint geting around so good lately getting beat up by Larry. I will be the one with all my confidence knocked out of me, looking at my shoes as I walk around.Ron: I will check out the "dubby" , hey---What is a dubby?

          9. Dave_Richeson | Jan 21, 2002 03:57am | #13

*I don't remember much of the sixties, but back then a "dubby" could get you locked up.

          10. Stan_Foster | Jan 21, 2002 05:21am | #14

*I never was into that stuff. I have enough trouble thinking straight. :)

          11. Rich_Beckman | Jan 24, 2002 07:41am | #15

*Stan,Sorry I'll be missing you. I had no idea about the Indy Show until you posted. Even though it's close to me, the notice is much too short. Hope you are able to see a lot of neat stuff, even without the LASIK.Rich Beckman

          12. Dave_Richeson | Jan 24, 2002 10:51am | #16

*Stan,It looks like I am going to have to cancel on the show. I have been baby sitting an elevator repair job for the past 21/2 weeks. It was suppose to be completed tonight, but.... Maybe they will get it done by Friday, who knows? My work shift changed from days to 5:00PM untill 2:00AM for this job, and I was told Wed. that I will stay with them untill completion. Looks like sometime after 2:00 AM Saturday I'll get off.Sorry, I was looking forward to meeting you. My grandson was also looking forward to the Childrens Museum.I think the show will be in Louisville the first week in March. Maybe I can get to it then.I hope your eye surgery went well, and enjoy the show.Dave

          13. Stan_Foster | Jan 24, 2002 02:04pm | #17

*Ok guys. In case you do go, I will be the woodworker with the glasses, you cant miss me. :)

          14. Boss_Hog | Jan 24, 2002 02:35pm | #18

*Looks like I won't be going either - Will be going to St. Louis to work on a remodel instead. I was also looking forward to meeeting you guys. Maybe we can have a midwestern "Pete Fest" one of these days ?

          15. RonTeti | Jan 25, 2002 07:14am | #19

*A dubby is a cut off jig for a table saw. it is pretty good. Jointec and delta have kind of stole the design from them and started marketing big time. The dubby is made by in-line industries. They are real nice people(husband and wife) and when i go to a ww show I always stop by ad see them and talk to them. They always show me new ways the dubby can be used and answer all my questions with set ups and various cuts. They havent been at the last couple of shows here in So Cal. I was curious cuz I hate to see such nice people loose there business cuz some larger companies stole there idea and repackaged the product by changing it enough to get around the pantend and close them up.

          16. Luka_ | Jan 25, 2002 07:48am | #20

            *Sorry Stan, Looks like I won't be there either.b : )

          17. Stan_Foster | Jan 25, 2002 07:51am | #21

*Luka: I would like to meet you someday. Maybe a midwest fest?

          18. Luka_ | Jan 25, 2002 08:03am | #22

*I'll hold a Lukafest at Beckman's on the way through to or from Dougfest. Youse can eat all of Beckman's food, clog up his toilet. Watch all his porno tapes and not rewind them when yer finished... Just think of all the fun.b : )

          19. Rich_Beckman | Jan 25, 2002 04:39pm | #23

*> Watch all his porno tapesI got porno tapes?!?!?!?! Where!?! Luka! Where?!?!?> Youse can eat all of Beckman's foodI got food!?!?!?!?> clog up his toiletI got a toilet!?!?!?................Ok, I know where the toilet is.Rich Beckman

          20. Gunner_1750 | Jan 27, 2002 07:21am | #24

*So Stan, How was it? Dave said something about it coming to Louisville in March. Is it worth going to? I'm not looking for anything major just odds and ends.

          21. Dave_Richeson | Jan 27, 2002 07:36am | #25

*Gunner,The Woodworking Show will be at the KY Fair & exposition Center, March 1-3,2002. Opens at noon on Friday and 10:00am on Saturdy and Sunday.I am going to try to go either Saturday or Sunday. I have never been to one, so don't know what to expect.Try thewoodworkingshows.com Should have the same events schedule that I got in the mail.Dave

          22. Stan_Foster | Jan 27, 2002 07:48am | #26

*It was a real good show as usual. There is always some nee thing-of-a-ma-jig at each one. Picked up some usual router bits, sanding belts, msc. stuff plusI bought some safety glasses that I wont be able to wear until I get my Lasik done.

          23. Gunner_1750 | Jan 27, 2002 04:35pm | #27

*Dave, If my schedule doesn't involve another all night remodel I'm going.Stan, I'm glad you had a good time even though we couldn't hook up. I remember when I got my contacts the first thing I did was buy a one hundred and fifty dollar pair of sun glasses. Then I bought several pairs of safety glasses. I remember laughing at myself for buying more pairs of glasses in one week then I had ever owned when i needed them.
