Inexpensive garden fence

rooferman | Posted in General Discussion on April 19, 2009 05:57am

Help!  I need some ideas/pictures for an inexpensive garden fence.  I am putting in a 30 foot by 30 foot vegetable garden this year.  I live in the country………..although I only have three acres. (Ohio)  I want to try to keep some of the critters from harvesting my crops!!  Rabbits are a big issue and my wife won’t let me practice with my 22 because they are so cute.  Have any ideas?  I would like to have easy access with my tiller too.  Thanks.  Mike L.

Electric fence. Cheap, easy to put up and you can put in a simple gate for running the tiller through.

I've always thought of rabbits as fancy chickens.

Field fencing should do it.  For extra insurance you could run chicken wire around the bottom 1'.  Use posts at the corners and double them about 5' apart for stretching. "T" posts in the middle.  Instead of building a swinging gate, just have a loose length of field fence that connects to a 2X4 that you can secure to a corner post with a loop of wire.  You can also grow beans on the field fence.  You're not gonna keep coons, squirrels, or possums out with anything, but this'll keep rabbits out.

pellet gun.  silent but deadly... until they scream their last breath!

sorry for the PITA people.  Just my veggies/fruit trees are not as easily replenished.

lost 15 trees in one week use to cottontails stripping off the bark to get to water..  At approx $50 plus labor per tree, do the math.  Same thing with the rose bushes.  eaten down to the grafts in one night

I have problems with deer. I bought 6' high kennel sections and bolted them together. Probably overkill for rabbits, but keeps the deer out.

    Fences in affordable rate

California Fence located in Mission Viejo has a large range of fences. They are providing installation facility as well as modern and traditional look fences in affordable price.

Hey Scott, you might want to alter your post as it is Spam... unless you seriously propose shipping fencing to Ohio.

    Shoot

    we're from Ohio..................

The dudes posting blatant spam from California, thus the shipping part.  It's pretty bad when the spammers liven up this place.

On another note, I'm a grandpa as of yesterday.  Those kids don't have any idea, but my son is getting an awakening soon.  The baby is a handsome little boy.

        Congrats!

You'll look good as a grandfather.

I've looked like a grandfather for a few years now but my sister stays young looking.  I don't get that at all.
