We are remodeling a house and since money has now begun tight. I have decided to do the trim work after the hardwood floor guys are through. I recently purchased a ingersoll rand 2 hp dd2t2 compressor and a bostitch n62fnk-2 nailer on ebay. I was wondering if anybody has experience with either of these items.

As a rule of thumb, Ingersol-Rand is one of the top air tool manufacturers in the world. Their air tools are industrial grade, and made to last a lifetime.
If you bought the stuff used, who knows.
I hate Bostitch guns. They are heavy, cumbersome, and jam a lot. That's just my opinion thugh. Some of the guys in my area love them.

I have looked at the Bostitch BT50 it shoots 18g up to 2". What does most trim carpenters use 16g or 18g? BTW I have a Bostitch framing gun for over 3 years now used and abused with no problems, Roger
Roger-
Use the 18 ga. for the lighter trim fastening. Use the 16ga. or 15ga. when fastening into studs and such, eg. baseboard, window sills and jambs, door jambs, outside edge of widow and door casings. Typical 18ga. application would be where inside edge of casing meets jamb.
That's the way I do it.

Thanks for your input. I hope that my setup will last at least long enough to do the doors. windows, and baseboard.
That Bostich is a 16 ga. trim nailer if memory serves, and I've used the first generation model of that gun with no problems. Bostich's trim gun nailers are collated at their proprietary angle so you HAVE to use THEIR nails or the generic equivalent. A lot of trim nailers out there are 15 ga. and use the same angle collated nails as established a while back by Senco, which, by the way, is unarguably my preferred trim gun.

Jay - I have the Bostitch 62...(it's a 15ga BTW). Had and used it for about a year and a half, great gun, hasn't jammed once and I don't find any problems getting a good selection of nails for it. Most lumber yards and/or Slowes and Home Cheapo will have them as well.
To each his own on gun selection, it becomes like a Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge debate before long. Mostly based on personal preference. The Hitachi nailers are the only ones I feel are really a step above the others these days.....again personal opinion.
