Inside uninsulated room wall
I have a garage with attic access with a knee wall. Right now it just has fiberglass in the bays – could I cover the attic side/exterior with something like Zip-R or some rigid foam? I was going to put rigid foam in the joist bays as air sealing but figured I’d better do the entire wall. I want to try and attempt to create a similar building envelope around the conditioned space so I was thinking an insulated sheating would be best. It would also give a good backer to attach some junction boxes that were in the attic on the wall studs. The previous homeowner installed some rigid foam XPS on the first floor but I don’t think they did a good job since that room is still freezing as well.

You may add insulation to your walls without removing it by cutting holes into the siding. You can blow spray foam or cellulose into the walls from outside. Just cut a 1 inch to 2-inch hole between the studs at the top of the wall and then spray the insulation into the hole using a hose.
