Installing a salvaged concrete fire plac
Concrete pho(sp?) surround at a fireplace. One of those old mono pour concrete, heavier than h&!! looks like granite one piece fire place “surround” 6′ wide, 4′ tall with a 3′ x 32″ arched opening.
thinking of epoxying small diameter all thread inot carefully drill holes that can be secured ot blocking in the framing. Nervous about the drilling. Any better ideas?
Also have to attach a 12″ by 7′ concrete matching mantle, cracked in two places, one very bad. The “surround” sits out from the wall so will carry the center of the mantel. Thinking of attaching 3/4″ ply to the under side with some sort of epoxy and ‘pins’, then mayb some angle iron. Got a guy who can repair the cracks as long as it is stable.

I'd be interested in getting one of those inverse-gravity carts for wheeling heavy stuff across the ceiling!View Image "...craftsmanship is first & foremost an expression of the human spirit." - P. Korn

I was going to comment on that, I wonder who held him upside down to take the shot. Nice looking surround for sure.
To the original poster, how about using wire anchors, similar to the way they place large stone on the outside of buildings Mike

Thank you, had to run and meet with homeowner and low volt guy, would have taken me a half hour to figure out how to shrink that
It's faux, not pho. Good luck!
Ha! Actually knew that but couldn't make my spellings look any where near what looked right so went with Vietnamese soup...
