I’ve got to put a 10″ diameter duct through fiber cement siding in order to vent a 1200 cfm range hood. The duct end (the wall hood or cap) is flanged and needs to be attached to the sheathing and properly flashed. How do I do this without wrecking half my siding?

Remove 3 courses of siding, cut hole, install pipe/flange, replace siding and caulk.

I concur.
The hard part will be getting that top row of siding off without tearing it up too much.
