installing edge blocking for drywall
Hello – When i demo’d my bathroom, i took out blocking around the edge of one wall. Now I’m trying to put some back in for the drywall (or strapping) to attach to.
I’ve come across an area that is too narrow to fit in a 2×4 or 2×6. it’s underneath the DWV that i installed (see pictures).
Any suggestions as to how to handle this narrow area? with the drywall or strapping screwed every 16″, the thickest board i would be able to fit is about 1/2 or maybe 3/4″.
thanks.

Sure, use a 2 X 6 there above the pipe and attach a ripper the same height as the pipe to the outside edge of it.
Thanks Florida for the comment. However, I'm not sure what a ripper is.
In your case a ripper is a piece of 2x wood ripped to the height of the pipe so the bottom is flush with the other blocking
Attach a 2x4 from the edge of the existing block to the top plate of the. intersecting wall.
sorry for being late getting back here. i appreciate all the help. what i ended up doing was notching out a 2x4 so that it would fit the area under the pipe. a friend of mine suggested this and it worked well. i attached a couple of pics.
