Vertical for me.
I see more horizontal apps around but there's never any blocking at the seams which used to be recommended, or so I believe..
Blocking is a pita and mostly avoidable as even here in the sticks I can get 8, 9, or 10 foot lengths.

Horizontal application without blocking is worthless for shear value. Hang it vertically to avoid blocking.
Under the uniform building code we were allowed to run sheer pannels either direction without blocking seams on horizontal joints. Under international building code any horizontal joints need to be blocked. Horizontal sheets give a flatter wall, but the time penalty to install the blocking makes it not worth it normally. In these days of increased awareness of the value of insulation it also makes sense to avoid blocking if possible since it displaces some insulation.
