Insualting/waterprfng a limestone fndtn
I have a 100+ year old house and the 18″ thick limestone
foundation gets damp after rains. I tried running fans and
having the windows open the first two summers and closing
the windows and running a dehumidifier this year. Neither
method is giving me a very dry basement and it is musty all the
time. I was considering framing the walls and insulating (about
40″ of the basement is exposed and the house is in
Wisconsin). What type of insualtion would be best? I thought
that the expanding urethane foams would work well and keep
the moisture out of the basement, but i am concerned that it
may adversly affect the limestone, if sprayed directly on to it.
Any suggestions??????
