I need some information on insulated crawl space design. I am looking at using 2″ rigid Dow blue board glued to a brick/block foundation wall. My local code requires an R10 from the insulation, which the 2″ rigid meets. Any suggestions?

Bwenger. I addition to the foundation insulation do not forget to insulate between the floor joists at the joist header. This is the 2x piece of lumber that the ends of the floor joist are nailed to.
Seal or tape the joints in the rigid foam board insulation (RFBI). You may be required to fire rate the insulation if it is to be left exposed on the interior.
Equally important is water management. Make sure the grade around the foundation is sloped 6 inches in 10 feet away from the foundation walls. Keep splash blocks well away from the foundation. Keep flower beds bushes and other plants at least 24-inches away from the foundation.
If the interior crawl space grade is lower the the exterior grade you may have to install a footing drain.
Install a 6-mil vapor diffusion retarder (VDR) on the crawl space dirt floor. Run the VDR up the face of the RFBI a foot or more and secure it to the VDR.
If vents exists keep them closed. If they don't exists do not install them...unles the building inspector says you must have them. When you get your CO shut and seal them. GeneL.
