I want to insulate (retrofit)two interior walls for a sound barrier. The wall surface is plaster. I’m deciding between: drilling small holes in the plaster and squirting in some polyurethane foam,or laying a 1/2″ foam sheet and then sheetrock over that. What do you think? Will the foam expansion blow out the walls? Which will be more effective, cost less, less work, better overall? Any source of foam other than 16oz. “Great Stuff”?

Drill 1" holes (2 per vertical wall cavity) and install cellulose insulation.
Install resiliant channel on one side and drywall over that.
