I was in Home Depot, this morning. Apparently Owens/Corning’s Pink insulation(Home Depot) is “Duking it Out” Johns Manville’s Yellow insulation (Lowes). Both companies are in a “Gas War” with each other, but because it’s not the same brand product, you can’t play one against the other to get a better price…. R-30 insulation batts costs are down almost HALF. Now priced at $28 for bundle of 56 sq. feet, it will take 9 bundles to do the 2×12″ ceiling joist space between the first and second floor of my Shed/Cabin. That’s their New Retail Price for now, so the 12% off coupon I got into the mail that expires today will apply on that already low price will get me a small discount plus pay the Sales’ Tax.
Are you seeing this pricing in your state and area?

I just checked and Lowes has OC for $42.80 in their flyer.
But you get a $100 cash card (mailin) if you buy $300 worth.

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Why are you insulating between the floors in your shed/cabin?

Hello Joe,
The lower floor will have a wall mounted Whirlpool 17,000 heat pump. The walls have a radiant barrier plus R-19 batts. Most of the living area will be down stairs, so keeping it a steady temp. will help now and if it is used for a rental apt. later on. At either 50 cents or a $1.00 each, I've acquired enough 1/2" and 5/8" drywall to do the lower level's walls and ceiling. At the top of the L-turned staircase, I plan for an insulated exterior steel sliding pocket door to seal the rising heat from the lower floor.
Even with plastic venting troughs and more R-19 fiberglass batts in between every gambrel roof rafter, for now it will be used for organized storage and not heated or cooled.
HD had a ad for for R-30 unfaced at $15.31 (was $22.50) for 31.25 sq ft.
That works out to $28 for 56 sq ft.

I saw that pricing, too, but I thought it was for a continous roll. I wondered if installing it in between those overhead ceiling joist would be harder being that it was continous and not the 4' long batts?
Thanks, Bill.
