Today at Lowes I parked next to this truck. It’s a highly decorated van from Handyman, and on the hood he had several magnetic business cards and the “take one” sign. The truck was backed in so the hood was easily visible…I bet he does that intentionally.
Do it right, or do it twice.

Great idea!

I went to a business seminar a few years ago and the presenter was talking about a cabinetmaker in his town who has many, many different phone numbers painted all over his truck - none of them were his.
They were all numbers of satisfied customers. Said people see the number, call asking "hi, is this LeRoy's Cabinets?" person on the other end says "no, but he remodelled our kitchen last year" and so the third party references begin.
I thought that was clever, too. I wouldn't do it myself, but it was definately thinking out of the box.
One, as a business man, I can not imagine asking a client to allow my posting his number on the side of my truck.
Two, as a client, I can not imagine wanting my number pasted to the side of some guys truck!
Three, as a client, I sure don't want some moron calling me and complaining about the way I drive!
Four, as a driver, I sure don't want some guy calling my client to complain about how I drive!
I feel references are a more controllable and distinguished wa to go.Jake Gulick

Cute story, but probably not true, for the very reasons you describe.
