Some use Eb-Ty system. Here you can buy the IPE` preslotted for the pieces to fit in.

I like the Deckmaster system. Lotta little screws, but that's what helpers are for! ;-)

Everything fits, until you put glue on it.
Another vote for Deckmaster. That system allows for easy replacement of a single board, anywhere on the deck. Try doing that with Eb-Ty.
