IPS Rainscreen siding install on pool house
Hi all,
We are putting an inground pool this year, and as part of that building an 8′ x 6′ pool house. We have ipe on another deck, and what I was thinking of doing was putting up ipe siding, and specifically rainscreen siding (https://www.advantagelumber.com/rainscreensiding/).
My question is on the approach for the install. The pool house is not going to be insulated, will sit right on the pavers that are going to surround the pool. At first I was going to install it just as you would if this were a house (so sheathing, housewrap, furring strips, and then attaching the ipe to the furring strips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PzEvjxDbd8&feature=emb_logo), but I was wondering if there’s any point to do doing this. Given the pool house is not insulated, not air tight, is there any reason not to just install the siding directly over the joists (16″ on center)?
We live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada so we do get a ton of snow and cold weather.
Thanks,
Darryl

Are you going to use pressure treated studs?
You would have to provide for lateral support, since the siding will not do anything to hold the studs and keep them vertical.
