I will be re-covering a kitchen floor this weekend. The owner removed a layer of vynil flooring and then some linoleum(?) tiles. The tiles were glued to gray colored paper which was glued to a layer of chip board nailed to diagonal subflooring.Does the gray paper contain asbestos??? The house was built in the early 1950’s. Did clipboard come out after abestos was disallowed in some building materials?
If it is asbestos should it be sprayed with water and scraped off or should it be painted to seal in the asbestos? Here in Canada I am not aware of any safety restrictions for removal of asbestos. The new flooring will be Pergo laminate glued together and floated on a underlayment foam. It’s small kitchen with about 5 by 12 feet of flooring.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
