is it possible to have heated shower floor with hot mop?
I am in san diego, ca. so a lot of contractors here use hot mop to waterproof the shower. I would like to get heated floor in the shower. I was wondering if it’s possible to have the shower floor heated with hot mopping. I know you can go with the membrane solution but my concern is hot mopping is a tried and true technique that stood the test of time. is it undesirable to have both hot mopping at the bottom and the membrane on top for the heated floor? love some feedback

No - if your floor heat is electric.
Shower floors heat up pretty quickly once a hot shower is turned on.

Just use the hot mop and a traditional style heat matt that is embedded in the thinset. There is no reason to use the more expensive style of membrane if you already have a waterproof layer.
thank you!
And most importantly, if it fails, remember to say "but a stranger on the internet told me it would work" :-)
I have been tiling showers for 30 years and have never hot mopped here in Socal. Why? Because the many small earthquakes we have that we don't feel will crack the tar on a hot mop and then you have a leak. The Schluter system is the gold standard for a leak free shower.
