A friend of mine owns a pawn shop. I get to see some of the good stuff before it goes up for sale. I was watching for a cordless trim nailer, when she showed me Porter Cable “Bammer”. I played with it a little and it seems pretty good. When I looked on the internet to see the going price… I can’t find it. Then my new FHB mag shows up. I thought it might have a review about it. Not the Bammer! Do they make them? Will I be able to get gas cylinders?

never heard or saw a single good review of a pawn shop, just some of my old tools...................Rik
Two words: Not happening.
I've had the pleasure of using one a time or two, I wouldn't take one for free.
There has been one on the shelf of the local lumber yard for as long as I can remember.

Is the Bammer obsolite?
It was never insolite!!
P.C has now become P.O.C.
They still make a few good tools. Routers come to mind.
But since they were bought out by Fischer Price they felt they did not need two "sets" of engineers so they got rid of the tool designers and kept the toy developers.
Now they are im a prime position to compete with Default for the weekend warrior segment of the market.

Do not try this at home!

hey now go easy, they still make the good tools they always did, now just they have just added some crap to go with it.

No, they no longer make them.
Yes, you can still get the gas cylinders. But I suppose there is a limit on how long that will continue to be the case. Maybe a call to PC to enquire on how long they are committed to production.
Yes, it is a bit of a pain to use. Yes, it will misfire if you let it sit too long (even two or three minutes) between shots. When that happens, it needs to be reprimed by depressing and releasing the nose piece once before trying another nail. If it sits too long, you may need to prime twice (as you do when you first get it out).
I got one cheap and once I understood it's limitations, I have no complaints.
Someone once posted that it helps to spray silicone lubricant on the nosepiece to ease depressing the thing (which can require some force). I keep meaning to try that....
To keep this in context, I don't use it everyday. Probably once a week or so. It is my first cordless nailer and my first finish nailer. I would guess that if I had much experience with a better cordless finish nailer, I would be less satisfied. It all depends on your perspective.
EDIT: Pawn shops are often frowned on here as a source for tools since there is a good chance such a purchase contributes to tool theft by keeping the outlet for stolen tools flowing. But in this case, it is likely that the Bammer was pawned by the owner (see all of the above comments).

Since we are bashing PC tools I figured I'd re-post some pics of my PC sander from way back when they made "real" tools. Note the mfr. date (1928) and interesting use of #2 combo square drive/slotted screws to attach the lower tag.

BTW, Buy Milwaukee. Lots of (still) domestic content.
O.K. now there's two of us that own Bammers. Untill I break down and buy a Paslode, it will have to do. I rarley ever use it. But about every month or so I'll pick up some spare fuel cells for the stock pile. It's good fpr what it is intended for. Go in slap upo a few pieces of trim or hang a door and leave. I know they made siding staplers, and I believe they made frming nailers. I've never heard from anyone who has used either. Do you think anyone ever bouht a framer or a stapler?Who Dares Wins.

I have to think they sold a few of them! I wonder if they ship what they can't sell overseas?

This is a pretty good description of what I use it for. I very rarely have so many finish nails to drive that it would have been worth hooking up a compressor. The Bammer works well for my needs.
