Hay guys. My unemployed wife has just received a great job offer in Charlotte, I am a Superintendent with a fair sized builder in the metro Detroit area.
In my area New Construction Permits are down by 71% from last year. I’m as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
So what is the skinny on Charlotte.
Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Charlotte is going gangbusters esp. north of town in the Lake Norman area (Nascar and fishing).
The king of the market is Simonini Builders so check in with them first (after memorizing their website)
The local HBA should be willing to post your resume for it's members. You'll have no trouble finding work with your background.
